Just as users' needs differ, SELVE's smart home control is also extremely flexible. SELVE Home effortlessly automates various tasks, such as lowering Roller shutters or awnings to prevent overheating, and switching lights, thermostats and other devices on and off. Now the latest generation of this smart system is being introduced, with even more innovative features. "Due to growing customer demand, this development is eagerly awaited by our field service," says Stefan Backenecker, product manager at SELVE.
The new SELVE Home Server 3 offers technical improvements and even more intuitive control and installation. One of the biggest innovations is the user-friendly tile interface that allows all components to be easily integrated and operated via the app.
"When installing SELVE Home 3, users only need to scan a QR code on the back of the device and connect via Bluetooth, completely eliminating the previous switch to a WiFi access point," explains the product manager. This makes the initial setup faster and easier than ever.
The updated, free SELVE Home 3 app also offers a clear interface, making operating and monitoring the SmartHome installation even easier. Additional advantage: entering passwords is no longer necessary, as connections and user management can easily be arranged via self-generated QR codes.
Another major innovation is the Matter compatibility of the compact, black Home Server 3. This means that the system can now be controlled externally. This applies not only to commeo and Homematic IP devices, but also to older SELVE function systems such as iveo and intronic, which are also supported. "Thanks to this standard, voice assistants such as Alexa and Siri can be effortlessly integrated without the need for a cloud connection," Stefan Backenecker emphasises. This also applies to other voice assistants that support Matter.
What is Matter and what can it do? Major tech companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google, Samsung and LG support this open SmartHome standard, allowing devices from different brands to communicate with each other.
"With Apple Home, users can not only control products from other manufacturers, but also SELVE Home 3 components, such as commeo radio drives and receivers," Backenecker explains. He himself has extensively tested how SELVE Home 3 can be integrated into Apple Home and concludes, "It works perfectly. Thanks to Matter, end users get more options and wider compatibility."
Until now, SmartHome systems have often been separate worlds, but Matter unites them simply, reliably and forward-looking. The standardised protocol ensures that switching commands, statuses and measurements are exchanged smoothly between different brands. In addition, Matter guarantees secure and encrypted data exchange, thanks to advanced security protocols. "This technology offers countless new possibilities for making a home smart and efficient," says the control technology expert.
In the increasingly important Matter environment, SELVE is one of the leaders in the Roller shutter and blinds industry. The company's goal is to make revolutionary solutions of tomorrow already available today. Thanks to the certified Matter compatibility of the new SELVE Home Server 3, devices from different manufacturers and platforms can easily communicate with each other. The list of companies supporting this technology developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) continues to grow.
"Matter can be used over various network protocols, including WiFi, Ethernet and Thread," adds Backenecker.
How smart do you want to make your home? The new SELVE Home 3 offers several control options:
✅ With or without Matter integration
✅ Via internet, anywhere in the world, or locally via private Wi-Fi
✅ Fully adjustable to your own preferences and habits
With the SELVE Home 3 app, users can easily determine which blinds are operated, in which rooms and under which conditions. Rules can also be set, for example to open and close Roller shutters and blinds automatically at fixed times, astronomical times or based on sensors.
According to Stefan Backenecker, the broad compatibility of SELVE Home 3 is a huge added value for customers. "The new Home Server can serve as a central unit for all SELVE radio systems, including commeo products and their predecessors."
SELVE deliberately opened up its SmartHome system to include devices from Homematic IP, from alarm sirens to smart thermostats. This, of course, remains possible.
With the Matter integration, SELVE is now taking an important next step. "This is the future-proof solution for customers who want to expand their SmartHome even further," Backenecker emphasises. "Our smart SELVE system meets various needs, does exactly what it is supposed to do and is ideally applicable in our industry - without unnecessary complexity."
