Somfy TR4 relay box for 4 tubular motors
The Somfy TR4 relay box is the solution for safely and professionally controlling multiple roller shutter motors. With this control box, you can operate up to four 230V tube motors both centrally and individually, without risk of malfunction or damage due to parallel switching.
This relay box is the direct replacement for the Somfy RK3 (SKU 1810280) and comes in a robust, impact-resistant plastic housing with IP55 protection. This makes it excellent for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Why an isolating relay is necessary
Connecting tubular motors directly in parallel may seem convenient, but technically it is asking for trouble. Motor never run exactly synchronously. As soon as one motor reaches its end position and stops, the other motor continues to run. This creates voltage in the stationary Motor that can reach up to 1000 volts.
This causes the well-known pendulum effect: the motor briefly moves in the opposite direction and then switches back. This process keeps repeating and eventually leads to faulty limit switches and motor damage.
With the Somfy TR4 relay box, you avoid this problem completely. The built-in isolating relays ensure that each motor is controlled safely and independently.
